This week feels like its transition time again. We have come to the end of another school year at home. Friends are graduating from high school, college, and graduate school. Our oldest son will be taking Driver’s Ed this summer and I recently turned in my first draft of a dissertation I have been writing on the topic of organizational change. The next stage is for my committee to begin reviewing it and making recommendations and edits. I hope to be completely done by August. It feels like summer is finally here as well. Tonight I am speaking at the commencement ceremonies of Rainbow Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio and then preaching at the church on Sunday morning.
I have been silent on the blog for some time but want to break the silence today by introducing a new topic that has captured my interest of late. I have asked several staff and friends to write on the subject of social justice. The writers will feature Dr. Karen Bullock, Director of the Doctoral Program at the B. H. Carroll Institute and historian for Buckner. She will look at this topic from a historic perspective and link it to our work at Buckner. I have asked some of our staff who are millennials that are passionate about the concept of social justice, and I have invited other friends to help us see this subject from their perspective as well. I may add my comments or post a few times along the way. I am asking my guest writers to state what social justice means to them, how social justice is linked to their work, and what they would say to encourage others to engage in social justice as well. I know this will be an interesting conversation. Stay tuned and on Monday we will begin.
Have a great weekend and I will be in touch on Monday.
